Public 18-hole, par 70 golf course near Romeo in Bruce Township, with leagues, house tournaments, golf outings and a small rustic banquet space.
Bruce Hills Golf Course is a public 18-hole course on Taft Road in Bruce Township, just outside Romeo in northern Macomb County. It is managed by Vargo Golf Company, alongside Golden Hawk Golf & Banquets and Myth Golf & Banquets, and Vargo gift cards work at all three.
Par 70, 5,630 yards from the whites, with a shorter set of red tees. Mature trees line the fairways and water shapes much of the round: ponds squeeze the second fairway, cover most of the approach on the fourth and guard the eighth green, and a creek crosses the 18th twice. The par-4 14th is the hole to respect, with out of bounds left, a pond right and a green that slopes hard from back to front. Greens, tees and fairways are bentgrass.
Practice putting and chipping greens, beverage carts, a pro shop and covered and open decks round it out.
Leagues fill much of the week: a Thursday men's league, a Tuesday women's league, a Friday couples' league, and Monday and Wednesday junior leagues, with food and drink discounts for league members. House tournaments through the season include the Spring Scramble, the Babe Classic, Senior Appreciation, a Peach Festival event and the Veterans Open. Unlimited, couples, corporate, senior and junior memberships are available.
Bruce Hills hosts outings of up to 144 players, from nine-hole scrambles to full-day tournaments. Staff handle tee assignments, cart staging, bag drop and scoring, and groups can finish with a meal in the banquet room. The small rustic banquet center suits intimate gatherings; larger weddings and banquets are hosted at Golden Hawk and Myth.
